Do you know what CBAM is?

CBAM

The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is a measure recently adopted by the European Union, with the aim of compensating for investment and efforts made to address climate impacts between companies in the European bloc and those outside it.

This mechanism aims to prevent European industry from relocating to other regions and to encourage non-member countries to adopt more ambitious climate targets, in line with those of the EU. Although some sectors and media have compared it to taxes or customs tariffs, the CBAM is not intended to fall into either of these categories.

This system is designed to be implemented progressively between 2026 and 2034. The European Commission has provided additional information on this mechanism through a series of questions and answers available in English, providing further clarity on its functioning and objectives.
